Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the season-opening cup on fourteen separate occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

Yet, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the final seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen years.
